Ouvrez bien vos yeux et vos oreilles !

Chic, c'est la rentree. Mais cette annee je suis de l'autre cote de la barriere. Et c'est la premiere fois que je vais faire cours a une classe gwenn ha du ! (l'uniforme est obligatoire). Je commence tout de suite par mes deux matieres principales, ecrire en francais des affaires (sur la pub) et lire la presse (panorama general de la presse francaise).

Ce matin j'ai rencontre les autres profs du departement. On est seulement 6, et l'ambiance est sympa, tres familiale. Il y a un autre Francais, Christophe (de Lille), et 4 dames thai, dont Ajarn Prapha, la chef du departement. Ajarn (adjaan) signifie professeur. Donc moi maintenant je suis Ajarn Maiwenn (ou Ajarn Mai, ce qui en plus veut dire nouvelle prof). Ils utilisent assez peu les noms de famille ici. Si je n'etais pas prof je pourrais etre Khun Maiwenn. Khun s'utilise aussi bien pour les hommes que pour les femmes. Ca doit etre pour ce que les Thais confondent parfois les genres en anglais, et que mon chauffeur mercredi m'a saluee d'un beau : "good morning Sir !"


Back to school. But this year I'm on the other side of the gate. And it's the first time I'll teach a class who looks like a Breton flag ( it's white and black, uniforms are compulsory). I start right away with my most important subjects, business writing in French (about advertisement) and reading the press ( general overview on the French press)

This morning I met the other French teachers. We're only 6, and the astmosphere is nice, like a family. There is another French, Christophe, and 4 Thai ladies, including Ajarn Prapha, the head of department. Ajarn (ajaan - English j) means teacher. So now I'm Ajarn Maiwenn ( or Adjarn Mai which also means New Teacher). They rarely use family names here. If I weren't a teacher I could be Khun Maiwenn. Khun is used both for men and women. This is probably why Thai sometimes confuse genders, and why my driver last Wednesday greeted me with " Good morning Sir !"
